1st Time Eating Cereal

Here you get to see Calynn eating cereal for the first time. Mom and Dad talked to the pediatrician last week and got the ok to start her on some rice cereal. Although not apparently wowed by the taste, she really seemed to enjoy the diffent texture and delivery system. We are noticing everyday that she tries to and seems to like doing "different" things, that is things not part of her so far lifelong routine.

Jan 20

Calynn turned four months old yesterday - and today she had her Doctors appointment. She had four shots, and while they were being given Calynn screamed her loudest scream to date. It broke our hearts of course. I fed her right after, and by the time she was done nursing all had been forgiven and forgotten and she was back to her happy, playful self. For those of you interested here are her stats... height- 26 inches (95%) weight- 13.4 pounds (45%) and head circumference- 16 inches (35%).

Calynn and I went to a playgroup today. She had a wonderful time with this little boy named Brayden, who was born just 12 days before her. They were turning towards each other, talking and holding hands.

Calynn playing while we enjoyed some delicious chicken curry. She is wearing one of the outfits that Jeff bought her for Christmas.

Here is our sleepy girl, back home after her long

day of playing with Job & Tara.

Calynn's day started out by sharing a cup of coffee with her Dad ( a trick she learned from her cousins Clara & Elena).

The three of us then headed down to visit with Job & Tara.

Playtime

Calynn showing us how she can push up on her arms

I didn't catch this smile when she was looking at me, but I think you can still see it by looking at her profile.

Chewing on her hands as usual

Practicing her sitting with some pillow help

Jan 16th

This morning Calynn rolled for the first time from her stomach to her back! After she did it the first time, she has done it every time I put her on her stomach. Back to front though she has still only done the once - I'm sure that will change soon though.

On Wednesday afternoon while playing on her blanket, Calynn rolled over for the first time! She rolled back to front, while trying to get some toys that were just out of reach.

This is Calynn's latest position while in the chair, always arching her back. At first I thought she was squirming to get out, but with further observation I think she is just doing because she found out that she can!

Calynn and I went out for lunch and shopping with Dawn & Gianna on Tuesday. We bought these animal rattles that can fit on her wrists and ankles at Dawn's suggestion. This is the first time Calynn wore them, and is trying to figure them out. She had a hard time catching them, but once she did she was a happy girl - thanks for the tip Dawn!

Instead of her playmat, which has an arch attached that inhibits her rolling (side to side not all the way over), Calynn now seems happier just laying on blankets to play. Here she is from this morning, playing on the same blanket that I did as a baby.

Where did the cute dog on my shirt go?
Peek a boo - here she is!

Calynn is showing off not only her new tummy time toy
(thanks Aunt Tara & Uncle Job!), but also her spreading bald spot.

January 7th

Calynn has really taken to this silk scarf that her Auntie Tina gave her over Christmas. It seems to put her in the best mood when we dangle it over her, and run it over her head and face. I know I have already posted similar pictures, but I think she is too cute not to put up more! The third picture here also shows Calynn practicing her sitting. She is getting very strong, and mostly wants to sit or stand (with assistance of course) instead of laying down.

Holiday's 2008

We are finally getting around to catching up on our posting from the last 2 weeks. We have been busy with family that came into town from all over the country. Melissa's sisters (and families) traveled in from California, Montana and Virginia. We also had many gatherings with friends and family from the area as well. It was a wonderful holiday as we got to be reunited with loved one's and meet some new members of the family such as our new nieces Clara, Elena and Kate. We are thankful for everything in our lives especially our beautiful daughter Calynn and so thankful that our family made such long trips to see us and make this such a memorable holiday season. Thank you all again and we wish you all the best in the new year.

The following six pictures are a few of our favorites from a photo shoot that my sister Christina did.We are forever thankful that she took the time to help us create some priceless photos that we will always cherish.
